About Time...

So I thought it's about time to post something. Although I have no idea what of...
I've been pretty busy this semester just trying to get past the numerous tests and group projects (ack, can't express how much they are challenging me, as a fairly independent person). All in all it's been good though. Nothing to complain about so far. Jay and FAMA just released new albums and hopefully Khalil's is in the works (or hopefully MORE far along than just "in the works"). Going to HK right after exams so I am supremely hoping I can decompress and destress for once in the last 4 months.
That's all. Here's to keeping on keeping on.

Alice Temperley to debut Target line

Word.
I love the GO International designers, although I have to say I am somewhat dismayed that her designs (unlike those of previous GO Designers Proenza Schouler) are mainly polyester-based with hints of rayon. Tsk, Tsk. Understandably a less luxurious line, but still - Proenza Schouler made it work....
Still excited though. Seems that my neighbourhood Target put the line out this weekend although it's not officially due in stores for a few days at least. (Target's website still shows Libertine as their current GO line).

Cheers! I vote Posen or Stella next (Stella's already done a line for Aussie Target).

The Honour Roll (sp?)

wow

jonathan jones + dan (sherwood) + joe (sherwood) = i'm so excited!

p.s. i have to spell their name canadian-ly though, it's just a me thing. i am also still in mourning for what was waking ashland.

in other news, i've been swamped with project work these last few weeks. i was so looking forward to seeing sherwood (they make me so happy!) and motion city soundtrack (also are amazing!) in toronto this week. also, the day after i leave canada is when the format is playing that same venue in toronto. unfortunately, i can't leave the hospital as i've 3 projects to finish in about 2 weeks. i do sometimes wish that london was just a tiny bit more exciting. their music scene needs [much] work...

Beautiful...

Oh my.
Although Tablo, MithraJin and DJ Tukutz are just amazing,
Brian and Eru and a few select members of DBSK are just beautiful.
Oh my.

realization

so after joining the Barack Obama (p.s. you should VOTE for him, he's amazing; not that that's a shameless plug for him or anything) group on facebook, and reading some of the incredulous claims that people make against him (you've seen the chain emails that outrageously and wrongly state that he's a radical religious zealot and muslim/islamic posing as a christian...)

i have come to a conclusion, which may be more of a realization, of sorts:

I think I might actually abhor people who continuously and unintentionally use poor grammar ("grammer" if you will), have poor sentence structure, and maim (nay, slaughter) the correct spelling of simple words in the English language.

*sigh*
which goes to show that the best educations (whether provided by parent(s), peers, money, self, or all of the above) do not always produce the most articulate and insightful individuals. analogous to a see lai without class.

Quote

while on the subject of quotes...
this may be my all time favourite.

"A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls."
-Coco Chanel

tahitian are my favourite.

Shoes...

today, I came across a great quote from fashionista.com
re: shoes (in regards to the keds and vans flats that are trendy now, especially with leggings, skirts, and/or skinny jeans)

"I'm reminded of my favorite quote from Harper's Bazaar ever, back when Lauren Davis was taking a break from Vogue and billing herself as a 'fashion consultant.' When they asked her when a woman could wear sneakers, she answered, 'My mother always said the only people who need to run are children and thieves.' "

LOVE it. i am pretty sure i have at least 3 pairs of said shoes in my closet at home as we speak... not including "real" running shoes.

Be still my heart...

This is possibly the only man I've ever loved.
(Oh, you know, besides my family etc. etc.)

Oh look, he loves me too!

Why does he have to be so amazing?

What a gorgeous Texan...

I must go visit Madison Avenue, NY. Apparently that is where the action is at. Even Jeanne Beker says so.

I **have** to see this movie!!!

I'm not much for movies usually. It takes a lot for me to say "I HAVE to see that"... and more for me to actually go and see it. So... I think this movie comes out on June 16th. From what I've gleaned, it stars Jim Chim, Anthony Wong, Eric Tseng, Charlene Choi of the ever-popular Twins and lastly-but-not-leastly: Chapman To. It's called Simply Actors or "ζˆ²ηŽ‹δΉ‹ηŽ‹". I can't figure out how to embed a youtube link in here, but it's pretty awesome. The official site is simplyactors.com and it's produced by Golden Scene. That's all I have to say about that. Of all the other actors/reasons ... How can you turn down a film with Eric Tseng (?!?!) Good lord! Simply put. Great thing I live in this suburban city where I will never see this movie upon its release day in theatres, or possibly ever. Maybe I can bootleg it somehow.

oh, I forgot the best part....
P.S. (!!!!!!!!!)
FAMA sings the theme song for this movie. How awesome is that? I'm pretty sure it's going to be the best (read: um, worst?) theme song I've ever heard, but I'll love it anyways. Just because they're FAMA and they are amazing.

"Did you know..."

Hey, that's the title of one of my favourite segments on a random old-school tv show, you might have heard of it: Bill Nye the Science Guy. OK... that was totally random and not what I was originally going to post about, but now I don't know what I wanted to say in the first place. That's also not a surprise.

I visited Aritzia the other day (ok, I know, laugh now at the hipster trending shopper) but I got a few great finds for good prices (!!!)
1. This awesome trapeze-esque top, in a kicker royal blue (one of my new favourite colours). It's cut just close enough to the body to NOT look like a maternity top, and has this great seamed yoke in the front and back. Reminder that I hate most embellishments that don't carry from the front to the back, it's just a personal pet peeve along with VPLs and pants that are just a little bit too short.
2. I swore I would never buy a non-Aritzia brand item from Aritzia, but nevertheless I found the greatest Kenzie top. OK, so I know you can get it at winners, but this top is smashing. It's a great swiss dot with an empire cut line. A great accenting bow in the middle of the empire "waist" and square cut neckline.
3. Random nautical navy top with red anchors - interesting gathering makes it unique, so I like it.
Overall, I was very happy - and I walked away from the mall with a great lulu wrap top that I've been coveting for a long while.

So, I guess I wanted to talk about my shopping...
there you go! As if you didn't already know - I love shopping.... now I had better go sell some drugs to make some money for all of my bad habits.

p.s. since being in Canada, I finally (today!) caught my first glimpse of FT (Fashion Television) ... I'm finally home!
p.s. I just realized that I was really good today, and wrote this post with capitalization. lucky you!

Victoria Day

so today is victoria day - for all of you who live in the states, i suppose you could equate it with your "memorial day" - which comes a week after ours. thusly, a long weekend anyways- so no work for me today. i pretty much spent the day sleeping in, ironing (!) and watching some cityline (!!!).

have i mentioned how i miss cityline while living in the states? ok, so you may have your regis/kelly or other random morning talk shows, but they are no match for marilyn denis.

Marilyn Denis, host of CityLine

Sandra Pittana (and husband) - stylist/fashion guru of CityLine

i especially miss fashion fridays with sandra pittana - she's amazing. given, sometimes her shows border on fug, but mostly she's pretty reliable. who could argue with her, when she put together a whole fashion show about winners - possibly one of my fave stores, ever? plus, she has amazing hair... i wish asian people could get their curl on like that.

Chef Michael Bonacini - mmm, i mean his food!!!

oh, and a little michael bonacini wouldn't hurt. that man is amazing! ok, so the accent doesn't hurt his awesome cooking skills. if you are ever in the toronto area, i suggest oliver & bonacini's @ bayview village. oh, and if anyone wants to take me out to canoe, just let me know!

Khalil Fong

just another warning before i start... if you can't handle improper use of capitalization (read: i hardly ever capitalize my sentences or words for that matter) then you should probably skip reading my blog. you might just go crazy. ok, so i admit that i myself am an editor, but i still can't seem to break this habit - although i do correct others on a fairly regular basis. ok. now on with the show.

AHEM. Khalil Fong

... is my new favourite. incase you couldn't tell, he's the one on the left with the beautiful glasses.

Warning

This is just a warning (for Helen, Annie, Doretta and those others who may know me too well, you know who you are) - I have finally started my blog... we'll see how often it gets updated, shall we? Now let the fun times begin!
Cheers!
